The bid to use public money for building a stadium in Prince George's County Maryland for DC United is dead. The local council voted 8-0 not to spend any money pursuing the deal. Oof! What now? I am going to let D from The DCenters tell you all about it.

Colorado and LA drew 0-0 after extra time in a qualifier for the US Open Cup last night at the Home Depot Center in Carson, but the Rapids got a 4-2 win on PK's to advance.

Jack Warner and Chuck Blazer have both been re-upped for their positions on the FIFA Executive Committee. Each term lasts 4 years. Warner has held the spot since 1983, and Blazer since 1996. Both ran unopposed. I think Bill Archer and I should challenge them next time.

Puerto Rico, like Montreal before them, succumbed to the intense pressure and give up a big lead in the CONCACAF Champions League, losing to Cruz Azul on PK's. Bunkering does not pay. I had been under the impression that away goals were the first tie breaker, but apparently there is no tie breaker in this tournament. PR had played from the 30th minute on with a one man advantage.
