At age 11 he was training at an elite residency program in Pennsylvania. By 13 he was in France with the youth academy for FC Metz. Then there were spells with AS Livorno in Italy and St. Mirren in Scotland -- both ending on sour notes. Still just 19 years old, Yao is now a young man without a club. He's gotten polite looks from a couple MLS teams, but with their rosters now down to 24 players he's unlikely to land a spot. U.S. u-20 Coach Thomas Rongen also took a flier on Yao. The soccer vagabond's most likely next destination? Back to France, where FC Metz have offered another trial.
